Jungle Tourist Camp, Royal Chitwan National Park, ChitanJungle Tourist Camp located at the heart of the Sauraha, the main gateway to the Chitwan National Park, Jungle Tourist Camp is established at 1978 AD and is dedicated to fulfill all the expectations of its valued guests during their visit to the Park.

Combining unique settings of traditional huts with attached bathrooms & hot showers, a beautiful garden and well furnished dinning hall, with buffet or a la carte menus, Jungle Tourist Camp offers you all you need as a base for you to set off on your adventurous jungle activities, or just to relax in this serene environment.

An Amazing True Story
Jungle Tourist Camp, Royal Chitwan National Park, ChitanTwo tourists Japp Van Pijkeren and Ralpm Van Lith booked a safari at Jungle Tourist Camp on date 12-12-2003 for a two days walk in a jungle.The next day, early in the morning,they set off,crossed a river and got their final briefing, then off to the jungle......After half an hour's walking, they stopped and all of the sudden a huge female tiger attacked them!!!! They were afraid as never before in their lives.Their guide Deepak Adhikari was fighting the tiger,hitting it with their sticks.After 5 minutes,the tiger left, probably because it received a blow on the nose--a life saving hit !!!! This real true story became a unbelievable story for those tourists... ... After getting relieved from tiger, they continued their safari and saw 95% of the wildlife like rhino, elephant,spotted deer and lot more.......

Chitwan National Park
Chitwan National Park (area: 932 sq. km.), established in 1973 as the first national park in Nepal, is one of the finest wildlife experiences in Asia. There you can find many different vegetation types such as: sal forest, riverine forest, grassland and mixed forest of sal and pine with many ox-bow lakes, rivers and streams. These diverse habitats attract a myriad of creatures including one horned rhino, tiger, leopard, gaur bison, marsh mugger & gharial crocodile as well as more than 500 species of birds.
The Park was recognized world wide when it was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984 by UNESCO.

How to get there? 

Overland; It takes around five hours drive by bus along the Prithivi Highway fro Kathmandu to Chitwan. This popular route takes you along river side and you can see mountain vistas as you leave the kathmandu valley.
 
By Air; From Kathmandu to Bharatpur on daily flight which takes around 25 minutes. you will be received by our staff at Bharatpur airpoart, who will guide you to our camp in Sauraha.
 
By Raft; You may combine your trip to Chitwan with exciting white water rafting on the Trishuli river. A three day adventures rafting trips end in Narayanghad where you reach saurha gate in Tandi by loacal transportation to be greeted by our guide.

Our programms have been designed to make your stay enjoyable and exciting. Professional jungle guides we lead you through a choice of programms which are suitable for both groups or individual visitors.
 
Elephant Safari
This is the most popular activity as big mammals like rhino leopard deer can be viewed safly at close proximity from the back of the elephant. You could also view crocodiles when your elephant crosses a river and also many colorful birds while walking through dense natural jungle.

Canoeing Trip
Traditionally made dug-out canoe takes you through calm Rapti River where you could view many species of exciting water birds and crocodile.

Nature walk
The most exciting activity here is the jungle walk. Your professional guide takes you through high grass jungle and riverside, streams and around ox-bow lakes where you could see many birds, butterflies, reptiles and mammals.
 
Jungle Drive
Jungle Tourist Camp, Royal Chitwan National Park, ChitanJeep drive is another popualr jungle activity where you can enjoy viewing many different locations in shorter span of time. The jeep takes you from Sauraha to Kasara the parks headquarters, through the dirt road in the jungle. In Kasara you can visit the famous Crocodile Breeding Center and the Park's museum. Because of the river depth during the monsoon, jeep drives are avaiable only from December to March or April (Climate depending). 
 
Bird Watching
There are more than and amazing 500 species of birds in the Park, that can be seen in many exciting location river, grassland and the forests. Our bird experts can take you to the appropriate bird watching sites where you could see a wide variety from a safe view point.
 
Elephant Bath
It is a unique experience to take a bath with an elephant in the Rapti River! You might even find yourself taking a surprise shower from an elephant's trunk while you are riding on its back.

THE COST INCLUDES
Accommodation in Jungle Tourist Camp on twin sharing basis. All meals on table. Tea, coffee are served round the clock . Jungle Activities such as elephant safaris, boat ride on Narayani river, escorted jungle treks, bird watching , nature walks, slide presentation in the evening, lectures on flora and fauna by senior naturalists and Laundry. Services of trained naturalists.
